70% of the world’s cocoa comes from West Africa, where workers earn as little as $0.25-$0.50 a day. In addition to this, more than 2 million children in the Ivory Coast and Ghana harvest cocoa.
To ensure chocolate is made with slave-free labor, make sure and purchase fair trade.
