Wednesday, October 24th marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially became into being. Help honor and celebrate United Nations day by learning more about their initiative to fight human trafficking.
In 2007, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) launched the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT), a multi-stakeholder initiative to fight human trafficking. Other efforts include the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT), a policy forum intended to improve coordination among UN agencies in the fight against human trafficking, and the Human Trafficking Knowledge Portal, which provides information about trafficking.
