Understand How Human Trafficking Affects Communities of Color

February is Black History Month in the United States. Honor this holiday by learning and understanding how human trafficking disproportionately affects communities of color, and specifically, girls of color. As outlined by Gabrielle Union in Essence Magazine, 52% of all juvenile prostitution arrests in the United States are comprised of African American children. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Justice reports that 62%, or more than half, of confirmed sex trafficking victims are African American.

Understanding how these disparities affect communities of color is essential to fighting against human trafficking in the United States.
