Centre MARTA started its activities on May 5, 2000, originating from cooperation of the Swedish Martha Association in Finland and Women Organizations of Latvia.
Mission
Centre MARTA is a non-governmental organization that aims to provide support to women in Latvia – non-citizens and migrants, women with low income and unemployed women, female victims of human trafficking and of domestic violence.
Resource centre for women MARTA establishes cooperation with other non-governmental organizations and the respective public authorities at national and international level.

The question really is this: how do we empower survivors to the level that they can achieve real, long-lasting success and live relatively normal lives?

In the Philippines in particular, the vast majority of the survivors we work with were trafficked while in the process of looking for employment. They were desperate, took chances that were risky, and it didn't work out for them, but it was that economic vulnerability that drove them to make those risky decisions.
